RLC welcomes the U of T Varsity Blues Women's Hockey Team

RLC hosted the Varsity Blues Women's Hockey Team, giving students a chance to learn from Olympic medalist Vicky Sunohara and her teammates.

Back in the day, when I was still “Scheff”, neé Scheffel, I played hockey for the University of Toronto (2011-2016).

While there I learned the value of GRIT, the importance of PASSION and PERSEVERANCE. I learned how to balance academics with athletics. I learned to set BIG goals, and how to achieve them. We were the underdogs, and now the Varsity Blues are the TOP DOGS.

I am so thrilled that my old team will be coming up to participate in the adventure race at the RLC Fall Colours event on the 21st of this month.

On the Friday before the race they will be sharing their experiences with the RLC students through a university program panel, and demonstrating what it takes to be an elite athlete. Our students will hear about their academic journeys and have the opportunity to compete and train alongside these incredible young women! They'll also meet 2-time Olympian Vicky Sunohara and see her Olympic medals from winning gold with Team Canada’s Women's Hockey Team.

A truly reciprocal experience!
